Summer rodeo season is here!

Ahh, the comforts and reveries of SUMMERTIME are finally here.

Tonight the community of Grangeville Idaho will be busting loose with a performance by Nashville’s Aaron Tippin.  Best known for “KISS THIS”, Aaron Tippin is injecting his spirit into this little central Idaho spot on the map.   The town is alive!

Currently, I’m enjoying a bit of ipad and sunshine on my back deck, with the lovely breeze and sounds of nature.  I have to admit,  I’m also listening to an 80′s Pandora station through ipad.  But its 3:30pm and time to head indoors to get ready for the concert tonight.  STarts at  7:30pm  but gates open at 5:30pm –> Grangeville Rodeo Arena.

Grangeville Border Days is the biggest annual bash of the Cowboy & Rodeo Culture this town has known for over 100 years.   It’s also  Idaho’s Oldest Rodeo.  This town literally tears at the seams during the Independence Day holidays.   LOTS OF food, fun, parades, games, rodeos, friends, family, art shows, pig roasts and more…

I’ve also witnessed an exodus by those who prefer cool mountain camps and riverside picnics.  Many enjoy getting into the great outdoors, where peace and quiet and family time is the priority.

If you’re looking for a great place to rock and enjoy the festivities June 30th and through July 4th, head to Grangeville Idaho on Highway 95 about 200 miles south of  Coeur D’alene / Spokane area and 200 miles north of Boise.

GRANGEVILLE IDAHO is the place to be this time of year, with mild temps, great people and the joys of summer….well, does it get better than this?

Aaron Tippin Tickets at Ticketswest.com, Rae Brothers on Main Street Grangeville and at the gate.  Extend your stay to Friday and enjoy the Concert in Pioneer Park Thursday evening, July 5th, under the delight of summer skies and comfortable evening temps..

Check http://idahocountyfreepress.com for schedule.

What ever you’re doing, stop and think about heading to Grangeville!

Gene Warden, 2011 Border Days Grand Marshall

42 year veteran of Grangeville Border Days Committee

Gene Warden, 2011 Border Days Grand Marshall

This is a special year for Gene Warden.  He will be celebrating his retirement July 1st and serving our community in a very important role.

Gene Warden is 2011 Border Days Committee President and honors the community in his role as 2011 Border Days Rodeo Grand Marshall.  Mr. Warden will also officially retire from his position as maintenance supervisor for  MountainView School District, a job he has held for the past 22 years.

I don’t know Gene Warden very well personally, but I do know that he is a man of many many talents.  He can do anything when it comes to carpentry and construction as witnessed years ago when he helped his niece, Rebecca Warden, take care of construction on a home she purchased for her and her son.

Gene Warden can be seen roaming about in the Nez Perce National Forest.  He loves the outdoors, ATVing, hunting and camping with family and friends.  Whenever you see Gene Warden in the great outdoors, you know his wife Leslie is not far away.  They love to spend time together no matter what season, and are active in the local Snowmobile Club.

Gene Warden is the quintessential community role model, always ready and willing to help out wherever help is needed.

Congratulations to Mr. Warden on his retirement and a big giant thanks for his efforts, his devotion to community and his 2011 role as Grand Marshall of this year’s Border Days celebration!
