Aaron Tippin in Concert Right Here in Little Ol’ Grangeville Idaho

June 30th, 2012 is the date that kicks off the Grangeville Border Days celebration with a performance by popular country singer Aaron Tippin.

visiting June 30, 2012 at the Grangeville Border Days Rodeo GroundsAaron Tippin is a force of nature, a man whose passion for music fuels an array of other vigorous enthusiasms. Apart from writing and recording songs and wowing crowds with his live appearances, Tippin is also a pilot, farmer, winemaker, outdoorsman, competitive bodybuilder and devoted family man. He even runs his own record label. It’s no surprise then that so many in the music industry regard this tireless South Carolinian as the “Hillbilly Hercules.”

Fresh from unveiling He Believed, his exclusive album for Cracker Barrel Old Country Stores, Tippin has now released a second collection of songs, one that salutes America’s truck drivers. It’s called In Overdrive and features the trucker classics “East Bound And Down,” “Drivin’ My Life Away,” “Prisoner Of The Highway,” “Girl On The Billboard,” “Movin’ On,” “The White Night,” “Roll On,” “Truck Drivin’ Man,” “Long White Line,” “Drivin’ Fool” and “Danger Dave.”

Gene Warden, 2011 Border Days Grand Marshall

42 year veteran of Grangeville Border Days Committee

Gene Warden, 2011 Border Days Grand Marshall

This is a special year for Gene Warden.  He will be celebrating his retirement July 1st and serving our community in a very important role.

Gene Warden is 2011 Border Days Committee President and honors the community in his role as 2011 Border Days Rodeo Grand Marshall.  Mr. Warden will also officially retire from his position as maintenance supervisor for  MountainView School District, a job he has held for the past 22 years.

I don’t know Gene Warden very well personally, but I do know that he is a man of many many talents.  He can do anything when it comes to carpentry and construction as witnessed years ago when he helped his niece, Rebecca Warden, take care of construction on a home she purchased for her and her son.

Gene Warden can be seen roaming about in the Nez Perce National Forest.  He loves the outdoors, ATVing, hunting and camping with family and friends.  Whenever you see Gene Warden in the great outdoors, you know his wife Leslie is not far away.  They love to spend time together no matter what season, and are active in the local Snowmobile Club.

Gene Warden is the quintessential community role model, always ready and willing to help out wherever help is needed.

Congratulations to Mr. Warden on his retirement and a big giant thanks for his efforts, his devotion to community and his 2011 role as Grand Marshall of this year’s Border Days celebration!
