Gene Warden, 2011 Border Days Grand Marshall

42 year veteran of Grangeville Border Days Committee

Gene Warden, 2011 Border Days Grand Marshall

This is a special year for Gene Warden.  He will be celebrating his retirement July 1st and serving our community in a very important role.

Gene Warden is 2011 Border Days Committee President and honors the community in his role as 2011 Border Days Rodeo Grand Marshall.  Mr. Warden will also officially retire from his position as maintenance supervisor for  MountainView School District, a job he has held for the past 22 years.

I don’t know Gene Warden very well personally, but I do know that he is a man of many many talents.  He can do anything when it comes to carpentry and construction as witnessed years ago when he helped his niece, Rebecca Warden, take care of construction on a home she purchased for her and her son.

Gene Warden can be seen roaming about in the Nez Perce National Forest.  He loves the outdoors, ATVing, hunting and camping with family and friends.  Whenever you see Gene Warden in the great outdoors, you know his wife Leslie is not far away.  They love to spend time together no matter what season, and are active in the local Snowmobile Club.

Gene Warden is the quintessential community role model, always ready and willing to help out wherever help is needed.

Congratulations to Mr. Warden on his retirement and a big giant thanks for his efforts, his devotion to community and his 2011 role as Grand Marshall of this year’s Border Days celebration!

Commemorate 100 Years of Idaho Rodeo

Border Days 2011 Souvenier ShirtsThere are quite a few commemorative items that can be had to remember the fun and festivities, the memories and the charms of the 100 Year celebration of Idaho’s Oldest Rodeo.

A Border Days Rodeo shirt is something that offers the perfect memory of this 2011 celebration.  Look for Gem Designs booth in Heritage Square, where t-shirts with a great logo are available for purchase to  commemorate your July 4th weekend in Grangeville Idaho.    Visit www.gemdesignscreenprinting.com for more info.

Ward Hooper was raised in the town of Grangeville, in north-central Idaho. At a very early age, Ward began drawing and painting. Ward has spent countless days hiking through the woods and fishing the many streams of this beautiful area.  These experiences have been the inspiration for much of Ward’s artwork.  Ward has created a beautiful commemorative print, numbered only to 100, that commemorates 100 Years of Idaho’s Oldest Rodeo.  Visit his website at www.wardhooper.com or call 208-287-8150 to order your numbered print before they’re gone.

Other souvenirs are available and those who wish to get mention of their souvenir or commemorative item can send a digital photo with details of what the item is, and where it can be purchased to pics@grangevilleborderdays.org

Nick Westberg is also a GHS high school student who will be supporting the online exposure of our Border Days event through his passion for photography and videos.   When you see Nick,  he may capture the moment you’re experiencing with friends and family, preserving the precious memories within our community and the celebration of 100 years of rodeo in Grangeville Idaho.  Nick is going to be a valuable contributor to the GrangevilleBorderDays.org website and we’ll all enjoy the fruits of his labors in this approach to the big event.

Please help me to extend a very warm welcome to each of our online contributors to the Border Days event!
